A brief description of Aveyronese towns

BelcastelBelcastel (distance approx. 25 mins)
This is one of the most beautiful villages of France.
You have here the possibility to visit the castle.
Also you can make a walk of about 3 hours.







NajacNajac (distance approx. 45 mins)
You can visit a beautiful fortress.
For a guided tour, you pay about 4 euros per person.








ConquesConques (distance approx. ca 50 mins)
This is a pilgrimage town which is certainly not less than Rocomandour.
This city lies on the route of Santiago de Compostella.








RodezRodez (distance approx. 40 mins)
Capital of the Aveyron.
Fun trip to go terraces and start shopping. In the winter you can ski just above Rodez. Where the Massif Central begins. About one and half hours drive, a fun day trip!







Villefrance de-RouergueVillefrance de-Rouergue (distance approx. 15 mins)
This is an ancient town with all facilities such as a station, supermarkets, restaurants and terraces.
Every Thursday there is a colorful market that is snaking through the historic downtown.
In this market you can find many regional products.







Peyrusse le RocPeyrusse le Roc (distance approx. 20 mins)
In this village you will find a castle ruins from the Roman era.
It was built in 761.
At that time, known for silver, lead and the mines.
In 1163, the unmastered by the British and later freed by Simon de Montfort.
The castle has been a monuments list since 1995.
The tour lasts 2 hours.




BrandonnetBrandonnet (distance approx. 5 mins)
From La Bleue Persienne you can walk to the river Aveyron and le Pont du Cayla.

Market

Every Thursday you can visit the market of Villefrance-de-Rouergue, 12 km. It is a colourful market meandering through the historic inner city. You can find a lot of regional products on this market. Other markets can be found in Rignac (16 km, Tuesdays), and Antonin-de-Noble Val ,50 km (Sundays). The villages of Najac, Cordes sur Ciel, Albi and Rodez are also worth visiting.

The diverse landscape in close vicinity of our B&B is ideal for sports activities such as mountain biking, hiking, fishing, playing golf and canoeing. At a distance of 12 kilometers the rustic village of Villefranche-de-Rouergue is situated. The region is also an ideal holiday destination during the low season because temperatures remain warm and nice.


Horseback riding

There are over a 1000 kilometers of riding tracks for horseback riding in the area. You can find a map with tracks on www.tourisme-equestre.fr Riding schools can be found in the vicinity of la Persienne Bleue : Villefranche (12 km), Rignac (16 km). For more detailed information, please refer to:

Golf

Are you a golf lover? Then France is the place to be. Within a 100 kilometers from la Persienne Bleu, 4 18-hole golf courses are situated with non-member access. Further South in Toulouse, a 36-hole and two 18-hole golf courses are situated. Nearby Villefranche-de-Rouergue houses a 9-hole golf courses to practice your techniques on a daily basis, while you can make yourself comfortable at La Persienne Bleu: Leaving for the golf course after breakfast and returning for a lovely dinner in the evening, sharing your experiences with the other guests.






Hiking

The Aveyron region has around 50 hiking trails varying from a short hour hiking track to a full day of hiking. G Guides are available at the local Tourist Office or with us.









Mountain biking and Cycling

The unique and varied landscape of Aveyron is an ideal place for cycling: From family cycling tours on quiet country roads to wild off-road mountain biking tracks in the hills. In nearby Najac a mountain bike circuit is located, officially recognized by the Fédération Francaise de Cyclisme, containing 26 bike circuits with a total length of 391 km. With its many rivers and lakes the Aveyron region offers numerous possibilities for water activities. Enjoy the advantages of the fresh streaming water in the Averyron and discover many unique and beautiful spots of nature. Go down stream with or without guidance.







Fishing

La Persienne Bleue is located directly at the river Alzou and the nearby river Averyron. The rivers in the Aveyron region are filled with pike, pike perch, trout, perch, carp and many other white fish types. The current pike fishing record is held at 1.37 meters and 19.6 kilos; the perfect opportunity to test your fishing skills! For night fishing 200 kilometers of riverbanks are available. For trained fishers as well as rookies there are numerous possibilities.
